25 June 2010 Advances in Point of Care Testing in general practice

The RACGP is a strong advocate for advances in point of care testing (PoCT) in general practice and believes that it is a desirable, valuable and appropriate activity for improving the quality of patient care and should become an integral part of modern general practice. We are therefore very pleased that the AMA Council of General Practice (AMACGP) has approved the introduction of four PoCT items for International Normalised Ratio (INR), total cholesterol, HbA1c and troponin for the AMA List of Medical Services and Fees. The AMACGP agreed that the PoCT fees should be equal to pathology fees. For more information, visit www.racgp.org.au/news/38023.
