29 January 2010 Congratulations to Australia Day Honours recipients

Congratulations to the many GPs and members who were recipients of this year’s Australia Day Honours. It is wonderful that your efforts were recognised publicly in this way and we congratulate each of you for your achievements.

Dr George Romano Santoro (RACGP Associate), Toorak, VIC – Officer of the Order of Australia. For service to medicine through contributions to a wide range of advisory and professional bodies, and to the Italian community.

Dr Richard Huish Ashby, Coorparoo, QLD – Member of the Order of Australia. For service to emergency medicine, to medical administration, and to a range of professional associations.

Dr Peter David Goldsworthy, Adelaide, SA – Member of the Order of Australia. For service to literature as an author and poet, through arts administration, and to the community.

Dr Merilyn Joyce Liddell (RACGP Fellow), Surrey Hills, VIC – Member of the Order of Australia. For service to tertiary education and administration, particularly in the discipline of medicine, and to cross cultural exchange and co-operation with Malaysia.

Dr Robyn Margaret Walker, ACT – Member of the Order of Australia. For exceptional service as a medical officer in the Australian Defence Force.

Dr Fabio Robert Brecciaroli (RACGP Fellow), Pelican Waters, QLD –- Medal of the Order of Australia. For service to medicine, particularly through the provision of palliative care services, and to the community of the Sunshine Coast.

Dr Edward William Brentnall (RACGP Fellow), Southbank, VIC – Medal of the Order of Australia. For service to acute and emergency medicine, particularly through the development of innovative procedures.

Dr John William Cairns (RACGP Fellow), Belgian Gardens, QLD – Medal of the Order of Australia. For service to palliative medicine, and to the community of the Townsville region.

Dr Timothy Duncan Hannah, Bardon, QLD – Medal of the Order of Australia. For service to medicine as a GP in the Katherine region.

Dr Terrence Joseph Horgan, St Ives, NSW – Medal of the Order of Australia. For service to the community as a fundraiser for Catholic charitable organisations.

Dr Christopher John Kennedy (RACGP Fellow), Townsville, QLD – Medal of the Order of Australia. For service to medical administration and medical education in northern Queensland.

Dr Keith Jacob Lipshut, Wangaratta, VIC – Medal of the Order of Australia. For service to the community of Wangaratta, and as a GP.

Dr John Douglas McKee, Bega, NSW – Medal of the Order of Australia. For service to the community of Bega, to medicine, and to Rotary.

Dr Bruce Graham Menzies, Armidale, NSW – Medal of the Order of Australia. For service to the arts in the Armidale region, particularly music, and as a GP.

Dr Peter Papworth Thomas (RACGP Fellow), Mount Marshall, QLD – Medal of the Order of Australia. For service to emergency medicine in Queensland, and to a range of professional associations.

Dr John James Patten (RACGP Associate), Ascot, QLD – Public Service Medal. For outstanding public service to Queensland Health in the development of sexual health medicine in Queensland.
