The National Expert Committee on Standards for General Practices (NECSGP) is currently reviewing feedback from the profession, surveyors, accreditation agencies, consumers and other stakeholders on the review of the 3rd edition of the RACGP Standards for general practices. The committee’s recent work has involved responding to the profession’s feedback – specifically how to reduce the number of indicators and how to give practices more choice in how they demonstrate their achievements in meeting the RACGP Standards. The college would like to thank the many people who have provided comments for the review of the Standards through written submissions or the online surveys. To date, around 200 responses to the online surveys, 60 written submissions and many more emails and telephone calls have been received by the RACGP. When the analysis of the feedback is complete it will be made available through the college’s website. The NECSGP is meeting next week to discuss suggested changes. The committee is ensuring feedback is considered as the drafting of the new edition begins. It is anticipated that the draft 4th edition will be available for comment toward the end of March.
