The General Practice Data Governance Council recently held its second formal meeting (following the establishment of the Council) in Melbourne to progress the key data governance agenda related to use of general practice data. At the meeting it was agreed that high quality data about clinical encounters will, with appropriate linkages, allow us to achieve a number of aims, including enhancing the quality of health outcomes and providing greater safety for patients through practice directed quality improvement. The General Practice Data Governance Council will play an important role in utilising different mechanisms to use and analyse data to improve patient care. We will keep members updated with this initiative through Fridayfacts. The Council includes representatives from the Australian Association of Practice Managers (AAPM), the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM), the Australian General Practice Network (AGPN), the Australian Medical Association (AMA), the Australian Practice Nurses Association (APNA), The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP), the Rural Doctors Association Australia (RDAA) and a consumer representative nominated by the Consumers Health Forum of Australia (CHF).
M5 encourages men and those who care about them to recognise the importance of men forming an ongoing relationship with a GP.
